Tips for an Even Better Wedding!

Updated: Mar 3

Hi, all! If you are currently planning your dream wedding, here's a few tips I've picked up along the way that could help make your wedding day even better. I plan on adding more to this list later.

  1. Make fans if you're having an outdoor ceremony during the summer. I've seen some really cute fans that had the wedding day program printed on them. Some even had fun facts about the bride and groom.

DIY Tip: Print on cardstock then use some wood crafting sticks from Amazon, Hobby Lobby, or Michael's.

2. Having an outdoor ceremony? Make sure you have a backup plan for inclement weather. The weather here in Oklahoma is so unpredicable. It could rain any month of the year. Make sure you have a plan if it rains on your wedding day. Do you have an option to move the ceremony indoors?

Note: It's supposed to be good luck if it rains on your wedding day so don't stress too much about it. :)

3. I can't tell you how many weddings I've been to where there's been so much cake or other food leftover at the end. I always hear someone asks what to do with all of it. My tip is to bring some to-go boxes and let your guests take home some leftovers.

I attended a wedding last year that had a catered BBQ dinner. They brought a stack full of to-go boxes and let everyone take some home at the end so they didn't have to figure out what to do with it. The guests loved it.

Need a way to get rid of all that extra wedding cake? You can purchase custom favor boxes then send home small slices of cake in them with your guests. I also attended a wedding earlier this year where they had used Saran Wrap to wrap up slices of cake then put them on a table near the exit so guests could pick up a piece on the way out.

4. I attended a wedding earlier this year that had a kid's table with coloring sheets and crayons. This was the only wedding I've seen with something specially for the kids and I loved it!

Shout out to Skye's Soiree for putting this table together.

  1. If using boutonnières for the groom and groomsmen, try to stay away from using pins. People always struggle with getting the pins on and they really just don't stay on very good. Instead of pins, use pocket squares for boutonnières or magnets. Make sure to tell your florist that you'd rather use magnets than pins. Magnets make it easier to put the boutonnières on and don't cause damage to the suits or tuxedos.
